Collagen for the skin

Studies show that regular collagen intake helps maintain a youthful complexion by significantly improving skin hydration, elasticity, and density. Clinical studies show that a daily intake of 5 g of Naticol® – the hydrolyzed fish collagen in our Beautybacs® – can reduce skin wrinkles by up to 11% after just 8 weeks. Furthermore, collagen has been shown to strengthen the skin barrier, promote the regeneration of damaged skin, and reduce inflammatory processes through its antioxidant properties. In this way, collagen can help mitigate UV-induced skin damage, for example.

Why take collagen and not apply it?

Dermatologists question the effectiveness of collagen-containing creams, as collagen does not naturally occur on the skin's surface and collagen fibers are too large to penetrate the skin barrier. While such skin care products can improve skin hydration in the short term, they do not have an effect on the deeper layers of the skin or "plump" wrinkles.

Hydrolyzed collagen, on the other hand, has been shown to be better absorbed by the body due to its small molecular size and can directly stimulate the body's own collagen production. In combination with vitamin C, collagen synthesis can be further enhanced, further optimizing its positive effect on the skin. Vitamin C acts as an essential cofactor for the enzymes necessary for the formation of stable collagen fibers.

Based on these scientific findings, we have consciously decided to offer oral collagen supplementation with vitamin C.
